Honor to whom honor is due // American Idol 2011 contestants

Ok, this is an unusual blog entry for me but as I've said in my title: honor to whom honor is due.
I was in Los Angeles a few days ago, jetlaged as hell, so I turned on the TV and I was blown away by this year's American Idol competition contestants. Those kids are super talented, creative and simply amazing. We also have this show in Germany but I don't watch it because in my opinion it's just disgraceful. They put the poor kids on the spot and make them look even worse than they already are. But seeing young people given the chance to show their real talent and get the attention they deserve is so much fun. And may I add that this year's jury is worth watching too...especially a gorgeous looking Jennifer Lopez, the wonderful and supersweet Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson.

Look what I've found on youtube about this year's contestants and convince yourself...the season has just begun so we have something to be excited about every week :)

Shalom! With love from Tel Aviv

I just got back from a beautiful trip to Tel Aviv, Israel. I've been there once before but only for 1 day and this time I was lucky enough to get an extra day off and take a trip to Jerusalem as well and I must say: I fell in love with this country - beautiful sights, nice weather, friendly people and amazing food! I will go back there with more time on my hands to check out Israel for sure!

If you ever get the chance to go to Tel Aviv, make sure you also check out the capital Jerusalem. It takes only 1hour to get there by bus (totally easy and fine) or you just book a tour at a travel agent or hotel reception. It's really worth it.

People who know me know that I'm really into good food and here's my personal recommendation to you guys: Restaurant Kalamata in the beautiful heart of Old Jaffa, Tel Aviv (10 Kikar Kedumim). It's a cozy and cute restaurant with a nice seaview and has been opened for almost 3 months now. The menu is small but well selected and let me tell you that the mediterranian food was EXCELLENT and the staff was supercool!!! Just check out their Facebook page if you're interested and make sure you get a reservation before you go there if you're around.

random niceness // Fa Yuen Street, Hong Kong - Sneaker's paradise

Yes, I just got back from the beautiful city of Hong Kong and I must say that it's one of my favourite places to be:  urban, vibrant, huge, fast and colourful - just the way I like it. People are friendly and food is great. What else do you need? I can tell you: a street full of sneakers!!! That's right! Fa Yuen Street in Mong Kok is a shopper's paradise for every sneaker lover. The Hong Kongers call this eldorado the "Sport Goods Street". So if you ever get the chance to visit this cool city make sure you also go to the sneakers paradise since it's much cheaper than in the States or in Europe.

why I love Natalie Portman

Damn, that girl is hot!!!! I have always been a huge fan of Natalie Portman and since "Black Swan" I kind of have the biggest girl crush on her too! "Black Swan" is an amazingly great movie and y'all should really go and check it out. Natalie's acting skills are mad good and she has proven once again that she is one of the most talented, beautiful and versatile actresses out there.

Speaking of versatile: I have found this video of hers a couple of years ago and I think now is the right time to put it on my blog. It's a sketch she made for SNL in 2006  and it appeared on "The Lonely Island"'s album Incredibad in 2009, called "Natalie's Rap". Fucking hilarious.
